# CHOOSING YOUR PERSONAL DATA ANONYMIZATION PERIOD (GDPR)

## Shippingbo's personal data anonymization feature allows users to comply with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) by automating the process of anonymizing customer data.

### Accessing the configuration

 To access the data anonymization configuration:

1. Log in to your Shippingbo account
2. Go to **Configuration \> Account \> Customer account**
3. Locate the "Data anonymization (GDPR)" section

### Activating the configuration

 To activate and configure data anonymization:

1. In the "Data anonymization (GDPR)" section, click on the pencil at the top right:

2. Enter a numeric value in this field. This value represents the number of months during which you want to keep personal data before it is anonymized.

*Example: if you enter "3", personal data will be anonymized after 3 months.*

Then, confirm:

### Scope of the option

 The anonymization option applies to all orders of the Shippingbo account. This means that all orders, regardless of their sales channel or status, will be subject to this anonymization rule.

### Data concerned

 The following personal data of end customers will be anonymized:

- Last name
- First name
- Address (except for the postal code and country code, which will be kept)
- Email address
- Phone number

### How it works

 Once the configuration is activated:

1. The Shippingbo system will keep personal data for the specified duration (in months)
2. When this period expires, personal data will be automatically anonymized
3. Postal code and country code information will be kept for statistical and logistical purposes

### Important considerations

- Anonymization is an **irreversible process**. Once data has been anonymized, it will no longer be possible to recover it in its original form.
- Make sure you choose a retention period that complies with your operational needs and the legal requirements applicable to your business.
- Some sales channels impose their own data anonymization deadlines. In such cases, their deadline will take priority over Shippingbo's deadline.
