## The order routing delay feature lets you define a delay before orders are sent to a warehouse, in order to wait for possible order modifications.

> - **Operational flexibility:** Configurable wait before orders are processed.
> - **Fewer errors:** Ability to modify orders before they are sent to the warehouse.
> - **Picking optimization:** Fewer changes after routing.
> - **Multi-warehouse coordination:** Automatic synchronization on the longest delay.

### 2. Prerequisites✔️:

- **Only available for supervision OMS / 3PL packs**
- This feature is available **on the warehouse/Bridge configurations** in the OMS.
- It is recommended for **warehouses connected via Bridge,** but it also works for regular warehouses.

### 3. How does the routing delay work?

Once the feature is enabled, you can set a **routing delay (in minutes)** for each warehouse.
This delay determines how long an order **remains visible in the OMS only**, before being sent to the Bridge (and therefore to the associated WMS tool).

Here is how it works in detail:

- When an order is received in the OMS:

    - It switches to “*Routed*” status immediately.
    - It **does not appear in the Warehouses tab** of the Bridge for the duration of the configured delay.
- **During this delay**, if the option **retrieve order line changes** is enabled in the sales channel connector, all **changes** are automatically applied.
- In case of multi-warehouse splitting:

    - The order waits for **the maximum delay** among all the warehouses concerned.

📢  **Warning**: No partial routing is performed.

*Example*:

An order arrives in the OMS at 10 am:

- Warehouse WMS1 has a 2-hour delay
- Warehouse WMS2 has a 0-hour delay

➡️ Result: **the order will be routed at 12 pm to both warehouses.**

📢 **Warning**:
If an order is in **error** in the OMS, the **routing delay only starts once it returns to “To prepare” status** after a rerouting attempt.

💡 **Tip**: Use this feature if you regularly need to make changes to orders right after they are created (change of item, address, etc.).

### 4. How do you enable and configure routing delays?

- Go to the account **OMS** -\> **Warehouses** -\> click on **the relevant warehouse** and enable the option **Order routing delay in minutes**:

- Enter the desired delay (e.g. 120 for 2h), then confirm:

📢 **Warning**:
This delay only applies **to orders routed to this specific warehouse**.

### 5. Practical example

**Context**:

**You are a 3PL logistics provider** and manage orders from different channels (Marketplace, Shopify, etc.). You notice that your customers often modify their orders within 30 minutes after validation.

**Using the feature**:

By enabling a routing delay of 60 minutes in your OMS, you prevent orders from going out prematurely to your WMS. This gives you one hour to receive any modifications (items added, quantities corrected, addresses changed…).

**Result**:

Fewer canceled orders, fewer redeliveries, optimized processing in your warehouses, and better served end customers.

💠 **Note**:
If all the warehouses associated with the order have **no delay**, routing is **immediate**.

📢 **Warning**:
When there are several warehouses, **the longest delay is applied globally to the order**. Therefore, check the configured delays so as not to affect the responsiveness of your shipments.

**⚒️ Recommendation:**

Before fully using the feature described in this tutorial, we strongly recommend running **a test phase** with your own settings to check that the result matches your expectations. As the customer remains **fully responsible** for the actions carried out in the Shippingbo account, these tests are essential to use the tool with complete peace of mind.
