This change **therefore breaks the computerized tracking of the Best-Before Dates** of the products.   ### 1. Requesting the activation of Best-Before Date changes - Activating this feature requires the intervention of our support team. Changing an existing Best-Before Date Once the option is activated, the Best-Before Date is changed from the **location content**: - either during a **stock addition** - or during a **stock removal**. These actions update the Best-Before Date associated with the stock concerned.     ### 3. Deleting a Best-Before Date To completely delete a Best-Before Date, you must carry out an **inventory on the location via the PDA**. The inventory resets the stock information, including the Best-Before Date.     ### 4. Risks of changing a Best-Before Date #### 4.1 Compliance and traceability risks The Best-Before Date is generally linked to the manufacturing lot: an **error when changing a Best-Before Date** jeopardizes **product traceability** throughout the logistics chain. A direct change in the WMS can break the match between the lot and its date, which makes it harder to identify products precisely. **If these changes are not logged** (who made the change, when and why), this can have **serious consequences** in the event of a quality incident or regulatory audits. ➡️ In some sectors such as food, cosmetics or healthcare, **altering this information can make the company liable** by creating non-compliance risks. ➡️ This **undermines the reliability of the data** and **seriously degrades the tracking** of the history of the products.   #### 4.2 Risks of inconsistencies across logistics systems The Best-Before Date is a **piece of data used by several systems** in the logistics chain (ERP, WMS, import files or receipt data). When it is changed directly in the Shippingbo WMS, this **may create inconsistencies** with the other systems that still use the initial value. These discrepancies can **lead to desynchronization between the tools** or be overwritten during the next data update, making the information difficult to make reliable.   #### 4.3 Operational risks Changing Best-Before Dates can also disrupt date-based logistics rules, such as FIFO or FEFO strategies, which determine the order in which products are picked. ➡️ This can lead to **picking errors**, to the**shipment of products further from their expiry date**, or conversely to the **blocking of stock that is actually sellable** when control rules use these dates. ➡️ When a Best-Before Date is changed,  it is therefore essential to be able to answer the following question: **what happened to the initial stock present in the location before the addition of the x units** **with the new Best-Before Date?** Is it: \- A correction of an entry error in the initial Best-Before Date, \- A replacement or mixing of stock without complete traceability in the system, \- Or an internal reassessment of the product's shelf life?   In conclusion, Best-Before Date management in Shippingbo makes it possible to identify critical information related to the traceability of perishable products.
