SHIPPING TO THE UNITED STATES: DAP REOPENED AND NEW REQUIREMENTS

1. What has changed since the end of September 2025?

Shipments to the United States without the DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) option are allowed again.
👉 This means you can ship under DAP (Delivery At Place)again, but with new customs obligations to comply with.

These changes follow the adaptation of US procedures and carriers after the temporary removal of DAP in August 2025.

2. What is the new mandatory information?

To comply with US requirements, some data that was previously optional is now mandatory for your shipments to the United States.

The following fields must be filled in:

  • The sender's EORI (field EORI)

  • The recipient's mobile phone number (field mobileNumber)

  • The destination state in the US address (field stateOrProvinceCode)

In addition:

  • All items in the customs declaration must be described in English, precisely and individually.

3. If I was already using DDP, what changes for me?

Shipments under DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) remain possible with no major change, but the rules change if you want to switch back to DAP:

  • The sender EORI field remains mandatory.

  • The description of the items in the customs declaration must still be in English.

  • Some fields that are mandatory under DDP become optional under DAP:

    • The VAT amount is not mandatory.

    • The customs duties amount is not mandatory.

    • The generic description of the parcel contents in English is not mandatory.

    • The parcel dimensions are not mandatory.

4. What are the consequences for my Colissimo shipments?

Shipments to the United States can now be made:

  • Under DDP, as before, if you want to prepay duties and taxes.

  • Under DAP, possible again, provided that the required fields are properly filled in the request to the Colissimo labeling Web Service.

👉 Make sure your system or connector (e.g. Shippingbo, Web Service, CMS, etc.) includes these fields before generating labels.

5. What should I do to be compliant?

📢 Steps to follow:

  1. Check that your sender EORI number is properly filled in your shipping configurations.

  2. Check that your items are described in English in the customs declaration.

  3. Add the recipient's phone number and the US state in the delivery information.

  4. Test your flows to make sure the data is properly transmitted to the Colissimo labeling service.

💠 Note:

If you use a carrier mapping rule for your Colissimo contract, check that it has been updated to include these new mandatory fields.
